針對成大生科中心與熱帶植物研究所勘查蘭花生技園區與烏樹林廢棄軍營一事，有多名蘭花業者十日直言，烏樹林設農學院機率很低，台灣各大學農學院招生不容易，已經紛紛改名生物科技學院了，台南市最近幾年的農業政策並不友善，業者有很多的無奈。
蘭花業者表示，除了川普當選美國總統的新聞外，業者昨天討論最熱烈的話題，就是成大生科中心與熱帶植物研究所要來後壁設立研究中心、研究所與農學院。大家很訝異的是，幾年前市府不是曾宣布成大生科中心要設在新營台糖總廠或鹽水岸內糖廠嗎？怎麼最近又急轉彎改成後壁？
業者說，全台的農學院系因招生不理想，都已改名生物科技或生命科學相關科系，成大不太可能到烏樹林設農學院。烏樹林廢棄營區最多是設置實驗農場或試驗中心，以設置農學院農藝或園藝系為例，還要上國文、英文、微積分、普通化學、普通物理、有機化學與普通植物學等等課程，並不是那麼簡單。
另推動產、官、學合作，讓蘭花生技園區成為雲嘉南農業中心，也與在新化的台南區農業改良場產生競合關係，因台南農改場轄區涵蓋雲、嘉、南。
 

國聯東區龍頭國民主場面對同區倒數第2的費城人，國民打線卻遭到費城人先發投手Alec Asher壓制，加上被Ryan Howard用三分砲痛擊，國民主場以1：4不敵費城人。

國民先發投手A.J. Cole在3局上遭遇大亂流，面對該局首棒打者Peter Bourjos就被轟出陽春砲，隨後又被敲安打和投出觸身球保送，再遭到Howard狙擊，Howard一棒扛出中外野方向的三分砲，Cole單局挨兩轟、失掉4分，種下了敗果。

本場比賽費城人先發投手Asher表現亮眼，主投6局，只被敲2支安打、沒有失分，成功壓制國民打線，國民只在8局靠著Daniel Murphy的高飛犧牲打拿下團隊唯一1分。

終場國民就以3分之差不敵費城人，不過國民82勝58敗仍穩居國聯東區龍頭，領先第2的大都會有8場的勝場差。
